Fashion Friday with HOP Seniors

Hello 2014 Senior! You have such an exciting time ahead of you! Memories to be made, proms to attend, diplomas to receive, and most importantly...senior pictures to be made! That lovely portrait of you inside your school yearbook is there forever. So shouldn't we make sure it's the best looking photo that yearbook has ever seen?!

As a 2007 High School graduate, my experience of taking senior portraits consisted of sitting in tufted chairs and awkwardly posing against a tree or my favorite, casually laying across the hood of my vehicle...(because that's exactly what I did in my spare time!) My how times have changed!

Fabulous photographers like Heather Owens have revolutionized the game of the senior picture experience. It is literally an experience! With Heather, your day starts with a hair and make-up session by one of her uber talented, hand-picked stylist. HELLO!...How awesome is that?! Forget the stress of arguing with Mom about whether your hair should be straight or curly for your pictures...just sit back, relax and get pampered! After you're glammed up and looking gorgeous, it's time to assess the wardrobe! Heather assists you in picking out the outfits that will look the most flattering and translate best on camera. Then the real fun begins-photo shoot time! Heather is extremely hands-on and makes you feel so comfortable. Have you ever wondered how some people have that 'real laugh' look in their photos? Heather makes you actually laugh! No fake ha-ha's here, girls! And BONUS - during your session, the stylist stays on sets to assist in any hair or make-up changes that need to be made.

Now that you have decided HOP Seniors is the only way to go for your senior portrait session, you're next big decision is upon you...wardrobe! That's where I come in...  Over the next few weeks, I will be guiding you through the fashion portion of your senior picture session.

Lace

One of my favorite fashion trends right now is lace...and lots of it! I'll take it in a dress, a blouse, pants or a skirt! It's safe to say that I'm in a love affair with lace! And what a perfect way for a bohemian beauty to show off her personal style! Try out a look with some lace for your portraits and you will not be disappointed!

What to Wear: Memphis In May 2011

As Summer quickly approaches, music lovers everywhere patiently wait for the line-up of their favorite music festival. Cali has Coachella. Texas is the home of SXSW. Lollapalooza lives in Chi-town. Lucky for us, we have the Beale Street Music Festival, better known as Memphis in May! Yes, it rains every year but on a lighter note, how fortunate are we to have such talented artists all compiled into one place at one time only a car ride away?! At any music fest you choose to go to this summer, you will see all kinds of eclectic outfits...from cut-off denim shorts with cropped tops to free and flowing maxi dresses. Your personal style can really shine through when you are in an 'anything goes' atmosphere, whether you are boho-chic, a lil bit country and a lil bit rock n' roll, or you choose to be more on the hipster side...seriously-anything goes! Come see us at SRB where you can find your music festival fashionista necessities!

Kate Bosworth and KE$HA showed their American pride in flag tees and cut-off shorts at Coachella this year. You can stay cool yet cute in SRB's Americana outfit.

Cropped tops and high-waisted shorts were several Coachella go-ers outfit of choice. Vanessa Hudgens and Whitney Port sported their own versions while listening to the sounds of summer. SRB has several varieties of this ensemble!

A few days ago at Coachella, Diane Kruger was the epitome of effortless, boho-chic in her fedora, tied-up tank and maxi skirt.

Just a few more Coachella-inspired outfits from SteamRoller Blues. You can never go wrong with trendy yet comfy tees and cut-offs, but don't forget to add fun, feathery accessories! Also, a colorful printed romper is a great way to look stylish without trying to hard!

One last essential for a fashionable Memphis in May experience:
Functional Footwear: This means FLATS! I know, I know...some of you swear by the '6-inch'  but you most certainly cannot keep movin' and groovin' all day and night, dancing to the sounds around you, with heels on. I suggest our best selling Trove T'Kees in Sunkissed, Blink, or Licorice.

So while you are enjoying the musical talent of your favorite bands, basking in the sun (but most likely dancing in the rain)... remember to have fun, be safe, and feel totally confident that you are the most fabulous music festival fashionista!

House of Harlow 1960

We are sure you have heard of Nicole Richie by now, right?  She is by far one of the most stylish celebrities around.  But did you know she also designs her own jewelry line?  And we’ve got it here at Steamroller Blues!  House of Harlow 1960, designed by Nicole Richie, is a jewelry line with big, bold and beautiful pieces.  The pieces are edgy but at the same time very feminine.  Some of the pieces that we have in the store are the Tribal Locket and the Five Stack Jagged Bracelets, both seen below on Kim Kardashian.  The bracelets can be worn together for maximum impact, or individually for a more delicate look.  We also have the 14 Karat Yellow Gold Plated and Black Resin Necklace seen below on the designer herself, Miss Nicole Richie.  This necklace can be worn so many ways and is a serious statement piece.  Put it with a white button up or tee and jeans for a casual look, then wear it with your favorite LBD (little black dress) for your next soiree.  You really may never want to take this necklace off!

Come check out all of our gorgeous House of Harlow pieces!
